Resumes by stage

Fresher resume format

With no work history, the question is not how to fill a page — it is what deserves the space. Projects, coursework that was actually hard, and internships, arranged so a recruiter sees capability rather than absence.

No card required. You only pay if you download.

Projects carry the resume

With no job history, a project you built and can explain is your strongest evidence. Two good ones beat six exercises.

One page, always

A fresher resume that runs to two pages is padded, and every reader knows it. One page reads as focused.

Education leads, briefly

Degree, institution, year, and your score if it is good. It goes near the top now and moves down after your first job.

Templates

Every design, one set of content.

Write it once and change the design whenever you like — what you typed never moves.

What goes on a resume with no experience

The order that works is: a short summary saying what you want to do and what you can already do; education; projects; internships or training; skills. Once you have a year of real work, experience moves above education and projects shrink — but until then, projects are the section doing the persuading.

Write projects like jobs. What was it, what did you build it with, what does it do, and what was genuinely hard about it. "College management system using Java and MySQL" is a category. "Built a college attendance system used by three departments, with role-based access and an offline mode for the labs" is a thing you made and can talk about for ten minutes.

  • Two or three real projects, described properly, beat a list of six.
  • Include a link only if the code or the deployed thing is worth opening.
  • List coursework only when it is specific and relevant — "Data Structures, Operating Systems, DBMS" is fine; "Engineering Mathematics I" is filler.
  • Include your score if it is strong. Leave it off if it is not, and let the projects speak.
  • Certifications count when they are substantive. A one-hour video course does not.

What to leave off

Indian fresher resume templates often carry a block of personal details that has not been expected for a decade and can invite bias: date of birth, gender, marital status, father's name, nationality, full postal address. None of it helps you, and in some markets it gets a resume set aside.

Also leave off: a photo unless the market expects one, "references available on request", an objective that says you seek a challenging role in a reputed organisation, and any skill rated with stars or a percentage bar — nobody believes 85% Java, and a parser reads the bar as nothing at all.

Why applicant tracking systems reject good resumes

Most large employers run applications through an applicant tracking system before a person sees them. The system extracts text, tries to work out where your jobs and dates are, and stores the result. When it cannot parse a resume, what reaches the recruiter is a garbled record — and a garbled record from a strong candidate looks the same as one from a weak one.

Almost every parsing failure comes from formatting, not content. Text inside images or icons is invisible to it. Multi-column layouts get read straight across, interleaving a sidebar with the main column. Tables scramble. Headers and footers are frequently dropped entirely, taking your phone number with them.

  • Real, selectable text — never a picture of a page, and never text baked into a graphic.
  • One clear column for the content a parser has to read in order.
  • Standard section headings: Experience, Education, Skills. Clever names confuse the matcher.
  • Dates in a consistent, readable format, next to the role they belong to.
  • Contact details in the body of the document, not in the page header.

Common questions

How long should a fresher resume be?

One page. Without work history there is not two pages of relevant material, and stretching to fill a second is visible from across the room.

What if I have no projects either?

Build one small thing before you apply, and write it up properly. A weekend project you can explain in detail is worth more than any amount of coursework listing, and it is the single highest-return thing you can do for a first job search.

Should I include my 10th and 12th marks?

In India it is still common and some campus processes require it, so one line each is fine. Outside campus recruitment, your degree is what matters — do not give school results more than two lines.

How much does it cost?

Building is free — every template, every section, the AI features and the preview. You pay only to download: a pass from ₹49 unlocks every document in its category for 30 days, or All Access at ₹199 unlocks everything. One payment; nothing renews automatically.

Will the AI make things up about me?

No, and it is prevented from doing so twice over. Every prompt states that facts may only come from what you wrote, and every suggestion is then checked against your own text before you see it — if it contains a company, a number or a qualification you did not supply, it is discarded rather than shown. Suggestions are also never applied automatically; you accept them.
